By placing two rectangle shaped bar magnets in parallel and facing their positive poles in the same direction (towards each other) it is possible to create a levitational magnetic field between the two magnets. This hover-like-force can be harnessed for cushioning the sole by multiplying the number of bar magnets and placing them equidistant across the entire sole within foam or a soft rubber gel.
